2. SCALES and ARPEGGIOS - get to know the fingerboard through structured exercises.

1: Choose a key (e.g. C major).

2: If you chose a minor key, choose a type of scale (e.g. melodic).

3: Choose how many octaves (in the 1st position it'll be 1 or 2 octaves).

4. With or without metronome, play one long note per bow.

5. Play 2 notes per bow, 3 notes per bow, 4 notes per bow... You decide.

6. Put your cello away and shake out your arms and hands, get some fresh air and some water.

7. Either repeat the scale, pick a new one, or follow the same steps with an arpeggio.
