What happens if I don’t force anything?

Recently I’ve often been asking myself this question.

I assume that you can relate to my experience:

my to-do list always asks for more of me than I have the capacity to give. There’s always a topic I need to learn more about, whether it’s related to cello playing or to something else entirely. There is always something to clean, an email to read, someone to call… - you now what I mean.

I keep trying to force control over these things as if I don’t trust myself to do anything at all if I let my logical thinking step aside for a second. I write lists, make priorities and talk with myself about my progress.

My thinking mind is very active, like the director of the movie of my life.

And while this is going on, a small voice inside of me is whispering “this is not sustainable…”

So I’ve been playing around with this thought: “what happens if I don’t force anything?”

From the time I get out of bed in the morning, what if I simply go with the flow? Light as a feather? Allowing the being and doing of everyday life to merge?

What happens then, is something that I’ve now heard from a few different people: slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.

I’m writing this because I wanted to see my experience in writing, and to share it with you in case it can help you to feel less overwhelmed in your busy day. It’s a thought that you can take with you and keep in your repertoire of helpful thoughts when you’re feeling stressed.

What happens if I don’t stress?
